What are the precautions for adjusting the ingredient height of bucket elevator

When customers purchase a bucket elevator, they will ask us a question: Can we lower the height of the feeding port of the bucket elevator a little bit? Because our site space is not large and we don't want to dig a pit, the feeding port is too high, and materials cannot slide into the feeding port. We want to lower the height of the feeding port as much as possible. May I ask if it has any impact?

For every slight decrease in the height of the feed inlet of the bucket elevator, the amount of material flowing into the elevator hopper will correspondingly decrease, and the proportion of excavated material will also increase, which has a significant impact on the service life of equipment including motor current and elevator. Therefore, our bucket elevator manufacturer suggests that the height of the feed inlet of the bucket elevator should not be changed as much as possible! Even if the height of the feed inlet needs to be adjusted, the following precautions should be taken:

Adjustment of the height of the feeding port: The material at the feeding port should be evenly spread in the width direction to avoid uneven feeding of the bucket elevator, which may cause uneven loading of the feed and lead to chain plates (or tape). Uneven wear of the hopper or sprocket, or deviation of the elevator chain plate (or tape).

The adjustment of ingredient height for bucket elevator manufacturers should consider the following factors:

1. The sliding angle of the feeding tube should be appropriate to avoid material blockage in front of the feeding port. The sliding angle of the sliding tube should be determined based on the characteristics, shape, and usage conditions of the material. It is generally stipulated that its sliding angle is 5 degrees greater than the dynamic resting angle of the material. For block shaped materials, materials with low moisture content, and materials that rely on mechanical flow, a small value can be taken. For powdered materials, materials with high moisture content, and materials that rely on self flow, a large value should be taken.

2. The adjustment of the feeding port should consider the loading method of the bucket elevator, provided that the feeding is smooth and does not increase the movement resistance of the elevator (mainly referring to the resistance of lifting materials and extracting materials). There are two loading methods for bucket elevators, namely excavation and inflow. The adoption formula is mainly used for non abrasive or semi abrasive bulk materials in powder, granular, and small block forms. Hoppers are usually sparsely arranged because there is not much resistance when retrieving materials, allowing the hopper to work quickly. Inflow type materials are used for large, abrasive materials, and their hoppers are arranged very densely. The materials are scattered between the hoppers, and the hopper running speed is relatively low.

3. For extraction loading, the higher the surface of the material, the greater the resistance during material extraction. To avoid overloading and material rebound, the surface height of the extracted material should be lower than the horizontal plane of the lower sprocket shaft. That is to say, when adjusting the feed inlet position of the bucket elevator, if the slip angle is insufficient, the original designed feed inlet position can be appropriately lowered, and the adjustment range is wide.

4. For inflow loading, in order to prevent materials from entering the lower part of the shell, the position of the lower edge of the feed inlet should be higher than the horizontal plane of the lower chain shaft. That is to say, when the position of the feed inlet is adjusted due to insufficient slip angle, the feed inlet can be lowered appropriately, but the downward position is limited, but the upward movement of the feed inlet position will not be affected. The higher the position of the feed inlet, the shorter the distance between the hopper load section, and the lighter the load on the hoist. When the feeding port of the bucket elevator is raised, on the one hand, it is necessary to consider adding guide rails (or guide plates) inside the housing at the corresponding position to avoid the chain plate (or tape) from shaking, and on the other hand, it is necessary to consider the blockage of the bucket elevator when it trips due to faults.
