Cartridge Dust Collector

Cartridge dust collector is a high-efficiency industrial dust removal equipment with pleated filter cartridges as core filter elements, equipped with pulse jet cleaning system. It separates solid particles from dusty air by negative pressure filtration, capturing ultrafine dust above 0.3μm with filtration efficiency up to 90%. Main types: vertical top-mounted cartridge dust collector, horizontal side-insert cartridge dust collector, mobile single-unit cartridge dust collector.
Compact structure, large filter area and easy maintenance, widely applied for grinding dust, welding fume, laser cutting smoke, powder coating, pharmaceutical, woodworking, sandblasting and other fine dust working conditions. Outlet dust concentration can be lower than 10mg/m³ to meet ultra-low emission standards.

Main Components

  1. Cabinet: Thickened carbon steel spray-coated or stainless steel sealed box, negative pressure operation to prevent dust leakage;

  2. Filter unit: Pleated cartridges (polyester, PTFE membrane, anti-static, high temperature resistant optional);

  3. Pulse cleaning system: Air tank, pulse solenoid valve, blowpipe and venturi tube, 0.4–0.6MPa compressed air for back-blowing;

  4. Air distribution baffle: Pre-separate coarse dust to reduce cartridge abrasion;

  5. Ventilation system: Centrifugal fan with silencer for stable low-noise negative pressure;

  6. Hopper & ash discharge device: 60° cone hopper, matched with drawer, star unloader, counterweight flap valve;

  7. PLC control system: Dual automatic cleaning modes (differential pressure / timing), alarm for over-temperature, high resistance and high material level;

  8. Optional accessories: Spark arrester, explosion venting device, activated carbon adsorption box, moving casters.

Working Principle

  1. Pre-separation: Dust-laden air enters the cabinet, coarse dust falls into hopper by gravity after hitting the baffle; fine dust flows up to filter area.

  2. Filtration: Dust is intercepted on the outer surface of pleated cartridges; clean air penetrates cartridge inner cavity and discharges through fan. Folded design greatly expands filter area and reduces system resistance.

  3. Pulse cleaning: When differential pressure rises to set value, pulse valves release high-pressure reverse air instantly to shake off dust cake into hopper; online/offline cleaning available to avoid secondary dust.

  4. Ash discharge: Dust in hopper is discharged regularly via airtight unloader for continuous purification.

  7. Zero dust leakage: Whole machine negative pressure sealed design, no dust overflow in workshop.

Common Faults & Solutions

  1. High differential pressure & insufficient air flow
    Causes: Blocked cartridges, faulty pulse cleaning, oil/water mixed compressed air, dew condensation from high humidity.
    Solutions: Replace blocked cartridges; repair pulse valves and pipelines; install air dryer; add cabinet heat tracing.
  2. Dust emission at air outlet
    Causes: Perforated cartridges, aging sealing rings, air leakage of tube sheet, improper cartridge installation.
    Solutions: Replace broken cartridges; renew sealing rings; weld tube sheet gaps; fix cartridges tightly.
  3. Pulse valve no blowing
    Causes: Burnt solenoid coil, broken circuit, insufficient air tank pressure, frozen air pipeline, faulty differential pressure transmitter.
    Solutions: Replace pulse valves and repair wiring; boost air pressure; install air drying equipment; calibrate differential pressure sensor.
  4. Short service life of cartridges
    Causes: Spark burning without spark arrester, direct air flow impact, sharp hard particles, mismatched cartridge material for high temp/corrosion.
    Solutions: Install spark trap; add flow guide plate; select high temperature / anti-corrosion cartridges.
  5. Dust bridging & blockage in hopper
    Causes: Damp caking dust, insufficient hopper angle, broken unloader, sticky powder.
    Solutions: Install hopper vibrator; use standard 60° hopper; repair ash discharge device; spray powder to reduce dust viscosity.
  6. Dust leakage from cabinet
    Causes: Aging sealing gaskets on access doors/flanges, cracked welding seams, positive pressure operation.
    Solutions: Replace gaskets, weld cabinet cracks; adjust fan to keep negative pressure inside machine.
